When the cat's away...

... the mice will play?!

With friends after church yesterday, the boys and I did in fact catch one particular mouse named Remy, cook up a storm in Ratatouille!

This charming tale is set none other than in Paris, home of the greatest chefs and finest restaurants. And it tells of how Remy, quite the connoisseur and aspiring French chef, helps a clueless apprentice, Linguini, turn around Chef Gusteau's old restaurant back to its 5-star heydey, with one delectable dish after another. But that's just the beginning of their adventure!

So, anyone can cook, oui, according to Gusteau whose spirit is Remy's inspiration? Maybe there's more to it!

Judging from how much Jon laughed all throughout the show, it proved to be a flavourful treat for him. The cooking theme was also right up Ben's alley. And although he thought the chasing scenes were "so scary!", there was certainly some great animation there from the makers of "Finding Nemo" and "Cars", that kept us glued to our seats!

That's not to say Ben didn't squirm at all. And he did need a toilet-break midway through, never mind that he had gone just before the movie.

I wasn't aware until now, since we go to the movies like once a year, but there's a simple booster seat that works for little ones that the theatres here provide for free. It looks nothing more than a rectangular bucket you invert, and let the velcro on the long sides do the trick of keeping it stuck fast to the seat. One short side is also slightly sloped, for the legs to rest comfortably. Perhaps you have these neat contraptions too, in the cinemas in your part of the world?

So, as I was saying, if you're hungry for something on the big screen with your little or not-so-little ones, this may be just the movie for your family. And especially if you love to cook, or simply love good food! Now, don't we all?

I give it four stars! =)

Would love to catch it, but not showing in Spore. Glad you all had a good time!

SAHM,
Yes, if not for our friends, I wouldn't have thought of taking the boys. With them around, Jon didn't have to miss any part of the show when Ben needed the toilet. I'm glad we got to join them for the movie! =)
