Probably one of the easiest flavors to make, of what I have tried, is this blueberry icecream from a Youtube video.

The ingredients are simply 2C blueberries, 1C heavy cream, and 1C maple syrup!

Blend and then pop them into an icecream maker. And just wait about 20min!

Or add more freezing hours after that, for the soft texture to firm up more.

I recently came across the Cuisinart 2-Quart ice cream maker, at Costco. It came to $40 before tax during the $10 off promo period. Sweet!

I'm also thinking I should go put up a sign to remind myself to try and do this. Especially when the heat and cabin fever get to us and everyone's screaming we're in each other's way! 

But now, this is one of those loud family moments I have a laugh over: 
When the children and I are all trying to get a word in at the same time and hubby has no choice but to *pipe up* and tell us, "Too many people are talking! I CAN'T HEAR YOU!"! :p

This cool yet easy-to-make sidewalk "paint" I came across on Pinterest, was just the thing for my youngest to use and draw out her wishes for her daddy dearest! 

Hubby is working from home today, while I'm relying on shortcuts and simple ways like this to slow down and heal after a dental surgery. Kids and I are glad he's finally wrapped up on his many worktrips for the quarter. He works hard to feed us.

To make sidewalk paint...

Just mix equal proportions of cornstarch and water. Add food coloring of your choice. That's it! A muffin pan works well as a palette also.

Hello, Potholes State Park

It's Get Out weekend -- and we're checking out Potholes* State Park for the first time!

The area is arid and tall trees in the park are helpful in providing some shade.

The warmer weather does make early morning and evenings the best times to enjoy the place.

Ah, for some peace and quiet :p...

And the highlight of last night's dinner? "Dad caught a fish!" the kids were thrilled to announce!

The walleye we left to cook over the campfire. Also the chicken strips, I seasoned them simply with salt, pepper, and curry powder. Plus some corn and frozen green beans. Everything wrapped in foil packages. I'm learning to pack what is easy to feed us on our camping trips. And relying on shortcuts always, like the instant mashed potato...

Making for an early Father's Day treat for the great dad hubby is! :D
