Another big winter storm is brewing, and will dump as much as 9 inches of snow on us!
By which time the husband will have left for his work trip before the sun comes out tomorrow.
He'll be gone for five days, only five. But just the thought of being on my own with the children in this severe weather is giving me cold feet.
I know, we've been through other snowstorms, and at least one of Vern's recent work trips earlier in the season there was a blizzard and even colder temperatures. But this is also a busier than usual week for us.
Besides Vern's own important work, it also happens that our boys have important stuff they won't want to miss -- all happening during this time that he'll be away. Jon's school concert, and Ben is his class VIP for the week, and wants very much to make it for a great friend's birthday party as well -- after narrowing it down, my shuttling with them and Kait to what's essential.
In anticipation of the crazy weather and busyness, I was also scrambling to get grocery shopping out of the way. And so that there's enough stocked up for me to feed us, should we be snowed in -- I sure hope not.
But trying to get ahead of housework, I was not being realistic. Each day already has its own load alongside the children's different needs, I am still learning to juggle.
What I was really hoping to conserve some energy for is the big workout outdoors -- the snow shovelling! That if the snow were to keep coming down, it would mean having to get out there more than once a day to shovel again and again, as we've done before.
Let me not get ahead of myself though. Hopefully the weather would turn out to be more manageable.
I guess what's most important is our safety and sanity. And so, I should learn to chill -- not exactly to kick back and relax, not with three little ones depending on me. But to collect myself, and rest in God's grace one day, one load at a time.
Am also mentally preparing myself to be slow to be driven up the wall, not just to drive slowly. To get us safely to where we need to go. Couple more things we are committed to this weekend, that I should use my discretion. Aside from trudging with the children through snow to the bus-stop for the other times when the schoolbus will be the safer choice.
Crazy isn't it, how school and activities tend to go on even in inclement weather? But that's how it is -- for the schools in this district and many others here in Spokane, we've since learnt.
And you know how Crazy + Busy like to come together also?!
Be focusing on and praying for Safety + Sanity in the midst of all that, too!
Thanks very much also for your support always -- that keeps me going!

It's snowing here too but not as much as predicted. Hopefully yours is not as bad either. We will probably skip school tomorrow 'cos we will never make it up the icy hill out of my community. :P Send prayers your way. Stay safe and warm. :)
Thanks, BM, have a cool snowday with C if you stay home! God bless!
Praying for your safety and sanity. Do keep yourself nicely bundled up and warm and big hugs for the children. Just keep to the "must do".
Yes, do keep safe and sane. That indeed, is of paramount importance. Take good care, Bp.
Thanks SAHM and Jo for praying and caring! hopefully one more round of shovelling -- and i'm just focusing on part of driveway so i can drive out without compressing the snow/b4 it freezes over -- will do for now! leaving the sidewalk, etc alone while it can wait!
Ohh... I can picture everything even without you telling, how much harder it would be to work the sections out! Am praying that the Lord be kind and smoothing things out, to keep all safe and sane. HANG IN THERE!
Mr. Sun, not here! Please move over to BP's!
Long warm hugs...
Haha, Stardust, guess i was sharing out loud what i was thinking in my head, to try and break it down to doable bits. Made progress in shovelling, and boys also kinda helped me with snowberm after tonight's concert while i tried to get to as much of the sidewalk! There's still all of the footpath... aiyah, tomorrow lah! Can't wait for more sun, yes, but the rains are supposed to come also! Good and bad, could wash some snow away, but then it will be this sea of slush on the roads to navigate thru. Thanks for keeping us in your prayers! Hugs, hugs back for you, dear Stardust!
sending warm hugs, thoughts and prayers to you and the kids! :)

Thanks, fay, *Hugs* back for you! i hope you and your family will get some fun in the snow soon... without too much of a shovelling hassle!
Hope Vern's back by now. And may the weather be kind to u and the lil ones over at ur side. *hugs*
Thanks Slavemom, it's the start of day 5, Vern will be back late tonite, may be day 6 by then... I'd better had tucked the kiddos in b4 that, after some running around with them afterwards! Thankful the snow let up! *hugs*
Hiya... You are doing so well with the kids and all the chores despite Vern's travels. Need to learn some tricks from you. Been having major yoyo-ing feelings about Poland. Very scared yet excited. Donna if that is going to happen but can't help thinking of all the challenges...moving to new place, unpronounceable language, snow (must shovel???) and all the household chores like cooking, cleaning, laundry plus ferrying kids to school.
Anyway, keep up the good work!
NM,
Thanks for your super kind words, tho if you see how frazzled I am, you'll understand why I'm learning to chill! Oh wow, Poland, I'm excited for you also! You are doing great where you are now, and you'll ease your way into your next destination also... one day, one season at a time :). All the best!
