Wakey, wakey! Ben woke us bright and early, two Thursdays ago now, more excited than nervous about starting first grade!
Jon our fifth grader didn't want this mom fussing over him: No pictures! Too much scrambled eggs! But he wanted me to drive because of his heavy load of school supplies.
Kait grabbed her own bag, too. Her smile was as wide as adorable Dora's on her backpack, as we all got out the door and made a beeline for the bus-stop. Only, she wasn't going up the big yellow bus. "My schoolbus!" she called out after it, about to cry. Thankfully, she found the spring in her step quite quickly again.
Our day was just starting. And also the new schoolyear!
Shine, you're a star... Ben's teacher included a star in the goodie bag for each child on that first day of school, encouraging the class to set high goals: "The sky is the limit. You're truly a star.".

What an encouraging teacher!! Hope they had a flying start to the new school year!
Schools over there are so encouraging, so the tv isn't lying about US school's friendly ambience. Am hoping that school has something to do with kids getting wiser and understanding. And Kate, be anxious not, you'll be on a bus soon. =P

Thanks, boys still warming up to homework and if they don't put up a fight over that with me or with each other, it is less stressful trying to get our act together esp during those crazy afterschool hours, and now activities have started also, it's busy as usual.

I hope so, too. What else i've not said trying to keep the post short n sweet, there's the shrinking budget that affects school activities among other things. Also, now Ben's class has been "reassembled" to take in students from other schools with staffing problems. The wise teacher sent home a note to us parents telling us to "bend like the wind!" and be positive 'coz staying positive she pointed helps our children adjust to changes. I do hope the funding will improve, or somehow be boosted thru fundraising events.

Reading your posts puts a smile in my face. Time flies, your three children are getting bigger.
My two boys are both schooling now. I am trying get them into the routine to do their homework autopilot mode. No maid so must subcontract the work to the boys :)

thanks Aileen, i'm also trying to do the same with those basic things with my boys, n i mean really basic: sit down n focus on your homework vs. being so distracted, put away your plate, lunchbox, water bottle, etc for me to wash, without me having to tell them the same things every day.
hey, i think u r doing a great job being a working mom n juggling everything else. i am our own maid n kids' driver and gets crazy enough for me. u keep going now!
