Poised

Poised is Kait during tummy time!

It's hardly the word to describe me though. "Frazzled" is more like it -- on any day! But I'm trying not to think of it that I only have a window here and hopefully another one there (when she'll go down for her catnap) to do this and that, or not at all!

It's the eve of Chinese New Year Eve. I have decided it's OK if scooping up our messes from the floor is the closest we'll get to springcleaning!

Meanwhile, here's wishing everyone an OX-picious year poised for opportunities and possibilities, the poor economy notwithstanding! Hope, not fear, I'm encouraged by Barack Obama who paved the way as the first African American President.

History Alive! @ St Charles

Step back in time...


to the "boom" of the cannon...


... and the thrill of the marching units, flags waving, and patriotic sounds of Fife and Drum Corps...



... all part of the "Lewis & Clark Heritage Days" two Sundays ago, to commemorate the Lewis & Clark era at historic St Charles, Missouri, in 1804!

Held annually since 1979, the event featured re-enactors of the Lewis & Clark Expedition...


... along with craftsmen making and selling crafts...


We came...


... we saw...


... and went away with a better appreciation of that amazing adventure along the Missouri River, more than 200 years ago!

Storms... and funnel cloud spotted!
It was a stormy Memorial Day weekend just past, and there was as much as 9 inches of rain at nearby St Charles county where this event was held the weekend before!

Yesterday, shortly after another downpour started, there was a tornado warning following the sighting of a funnel cloud at the main road outside our place, minutes after Jon and I got home from the library and grocery store! We were heading to the basement to "take cover", when the warning was lifted!

There were no reports of any touchdown of a tornado... phew!
