Whoosh!

Nov 09 - Jan 10 bpcell 188 c
That's Jon coming down the beginner hill at Mt Spokane -- in style, same day he grasped quickly the basics of skiing (without poles yet), for him to take the chair lift to the top.

And then, repeat that very many times...
Wheeeeeee!...
Nov 09 - Jan 10 bpcell 246Nov 09 - Jan 10 bpcell 247

... before the sun was setting at 4, and we had to call it a day.

Ben also learned faster than me, flashing this not as big a risk-taker of a mommy a super big grin as he straddled past me. Me and my two left feet I was trying to keep parallel and take small steps in, for the crab-walk up the slope.

Taking a break from his work, Vern, who had tried a bit of cross-country skiing years back, watched on the sidelines and watched Kait who eventually went down for a much longer nap than any she'd take. Glad it worked out, and we were blessed with a patient and qualified coach in his colleague.

New beginnings, new adventures
Jon had such a cool time, he wouldn't stop talking about this first ski experience. It was also a timely reminder that new and fun adventures do come with new beginnings. The new beginning referring not so much to the new year, but our big interstate move last year after Vern's job search amid us still adjusting to three kids and lots more stress at that same time he was completing the toughest parts of his studies.

Half a year on now, Jon (finally) broke down and cried, missing the people and places in St Louis we've had to leave behind. The way Ben had bawled his eyes out several times. There are tradeoffs with changes we make -- and the children feel it as much as we do; adjustments we're making still; and new blessings, too. All not to be taken for granted: God's steadfast love, and loved ones and friends who care to stick with us through the ups and downs -- in this quick lookback at 2009, and looking ahead (in the picture, from the parking lot at Mt Spokane).

And whoosh... we're into 2010!

It's a rough start though, with the boys more than dragging their feet over school and homework again. Ben's outbursts, Jon's rampages, and Kait's also a big bundle of energy and waking up many times in the night still.
Vern is really busy and at the workplace past dinnertime night after night.

Yesterday, I had to heave a reluctant Ben from his booster seat into the shopping cart. Then,
picture this crazy mom jumping and going "Whoopee", trying to un-bore Kait in the shoe section -- using the balls of stuffing from the shoes Jon was trying on and the shoeboxes for her to toss them in. Of course it beat chasing her from aisle to aisle. But the longer drive out in frigid temperatures, and even longer 'coz I made a wrong turn, would not have been necessary if Jon had not playfully skated on ice in his regular backup shoes. More antics among the three of them. Those that saw me hit the roof in two days included one foam soccer ball landing on the toaster oven I was cooking chicken in, and some other bouncy rubber thingee hitting my face (*ow*) whilst Kait was trying to nurse!

OK, so it's a new year but there are all these old issues that are very much always works in progress for us. You see why my goals remain to keep up with the children and the chores, and especially to KEEP SANE! I concluded, too, that it does help my sanity when I blog. And not just our "photo-album" moments that are great for the memories, but also our daily adventures and struggles. Because life is the sum-total of these.

Bless you for bearing with me!

Vern took the picture of the boys and me. Used my phone for the other quick shots, only way I could try and not fall splat on my nose!

Oh what fun!! And the kids sure learn faster than us. Glad you are all having fun in the "new place" ... it makes it up for what the children are missing in the old.

Just hang on, you will be out of the woods soon, and Kait will be sleeping thru the nite very very soon.

Hey dearie! Been visiting but haven't been leaving comments. 3 kids under one roof is becoming more and more of a juggling act here, what with different age, needs arise that have to be met! Just 3 weeks into the summer break here, I am really beginning to doubt myself, especially with the crazy antics No.1 & 2 get up to and still trying to get No.3 keeping with her routine! But but, sista I am with ya! I am always here for you, though miles apart, for we are experiencing all the motherhood craziness and happiness together! And during those nights when you are awake, I hope it makes u feel a bit better to know that my No.3 is till not sleeping through the night and 4 hrs on the dot! But is the only way I get to have sleep!

I'm here, HERE ( waving ), though miles away.. Wishing I'll be there to govern the boys. Grr!! Sayanging your face now, think your prettiness undamaged, knowing from that last pict. =)

Know that you're lovable in His eyes, BP, as you overcome daily 'wars' in His strength. Surely, He'll not shortchange you, or provide an ounce less of His love steadfast. Be praying that Kait stops her night wakes very soon.

And know what an inspiration you are to many, especially me. Hugs..

SAHM,
thankful for this new experience that moving to the NW has made possible. it's true tho' that the "old" bigger city had more places i could take the kids to even in cold weather. thanks for understanding. for the sleeping, i know from the boys last time that it doesn't really get better till 3, 3+ yo 'coz of the co-sleeping. n i am not ready to wean Kait off, partly coz she's a v picky eater n won't drink v much cow's milk either.

Priscilla,
thanks for sharing, i hear u too, n i understand all that u r going thru', my 16mo still wakes up every 2hrly in the nite 'coz the "milk bar" (as u called it) is too convenient but only way i know how 'coz still can't do crying it out this third time, third child! u keep going and remember to take 5 in-between, u r doing such an amazing job, i've been catching u on the reader but not always able to leave comments. god bless!

Slavemom,
thanks always for your support, it'll be really nice when i can meet u one day!

Sandi,
*give me 5*! poke u later, i'm seldom in fb tho', the updates and comments are so fast n furious! i've cut down on pc time after i can use my phone to read emails but not access fb per se or most internet links tho'. u take care, hope your CTS gets better!

Stardust,
thanks, and i'm really thankful for your love n prayers. if u r closer, u can come help me babysit ;p

Firstly. Happy New Year !
Dig the Xmas photos of the three of them.

There's always new challenges with every move. Mine is coming up quite soon. new schools, with perhaps new syllabus. new friends for kids as well as mummy. list is endless . I supposed the feelings are quite mixed. Scared yet excited. sad and happy at the same time. optimistic yet worrying. but regrdless will persevere and live one day at A time
